Airtel Sucks !!!



Sadly, I have a dial up connection on my laptop. Have been trying to have a broadband connection for a while, but well.. BSNL doesnt like me much, so its a loong waiting for me. And lately, I have been harassed by my dialup connection, always faulty connection. So when a student of mine suggested me that I can use my Airtel card to access internet, which is speedier and most importantly free, I readily agreed..

So..I called up airtel customer care. Firstly, its such a cumbersome routine to speak to their customore care, have to pass three levels before we can even talk to the people. Anyways, activating the GPRS was a piece of cake, I didnt had to do anything other then send a stupid message which cost me 3 rs. After that I received a message to again call up Customer care(not again...) and get my handset settings.. Now here is where the whole story begins.. I called almost a dozen times, redirected endlessly to get my settings. And on the way I found some very good English speaking dudes. Let me cite him..

Me : I have activated GPRS on my cell and now I need the handset settings for my cell phone.

CC : !@#@$#$#%%#$@#@# (some vague words)
Me : Pardon.
CC : !@#@$#$#%%#$@#@# (some more vague words)
Me : Can you please repeat what I need to do..
CC : You have reached the wrong customer care. You need to call 121433. Call 121, after 5 sec, 4 press, more 5 sec, 3 press and more 5 sec 3 press.

I then knew that he was telling me to call 121, and then go in the submenus by pressing 433. Funny isnt it!! Anyways..during my relentless calling, I twice received a message that your settings have been received..The customer care executive told me that when you will receive your handset settings, you will be asked to save, view or discard it. So I was happy with that, I can view the settings, see where they are to be stored and then replace those settings with the settings that my student gave me.. So here I was, received the message twice that settings have been delivered, And I had no idea what was happening. Tired and frustrated, I tried accessing the net with the settings that my student gave me..and what do I found..Yes...finally I can access internet on my cell...

Was not in such a good mood after i found out that my 15 rs were deducted, which btw was the legal charge...well looks like there is no thing as free in this world..


In this whole process, what really bugged me was the customer care of airtel..They really need to improve this.. God knows how did they become the foremost mobile operator in India!!!!!
